This year, May 13, 2017, marks the 100th anniversary of the appearance of the Virgin Mary to three young shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal.
The Blessed Mother appeared to Lucia dos Santos, 10, and her cousins Francisco, 9, and Jacinta Marto, 7, once each month from May 13 to Oct. 13, 1917.
Pope Francis visited Fatima this year on May 13 and canonized Jacinta and Francisco as saints of the Church. Lucia died only in 2005, and her cause for canonization in not yet complete but is well on its way.
At Fatima, our Lady’s message especially emphasized the importance of
praying the rosary for world peace and the conversion of souls.
