St. Paul Summer Camp
St. Paul Summer Camp is becoming a reality and we are so excited. We have two great directors, Cindy Kobus and Julie Scalora. Both of them have previous experience with Summer Camps. Cindy worked at one for years and has been looking to get involved again. Julie ran our Arts Summer Camp last year. In the not too distant future, we will be hiring Camp Counselors to help with the camp. It is my hope that a number of our college age parishioners and maybe even High School Juniors and Seniors will apply for these stipend positions.

The directors gathered a lot of information on Summer Camps in the area. They also spoke with area parents to try and determine the types of activities and programs they felt would benefit their children. When Cindy and Julie presented their proposal, I started getting excited. I'm not an expert on summer camps, but they really seemed to know what they were talking about. They have come up with a program which offers a number different themes and options each week. They also took into consideration the parents' work schedule, and somehow, they feel we can provide before care and after care at no additional expense to participating families. That's impressive to me.

There is certainly a lot of excitement about this camp! When we sent out the email to 1400 parish families, within one hour, 80 people had downloaded the registration forms and 117 people had read the Frequently Asked Questions sheet on our website.

We want to provide services for our parishioners and the local community, and we want to do everything we can to help our families who are blessed with children. Please join me in praying for the success of this great program. If you have grandchildren or neighbors who you think might be interested, please pass on fliers included in our bulletin this week.

Our Senior Citizens
The committee for our senior citizens will be meeting this week. We had several great volunteers come forward. At their first meeting, the committee will begin to formulate a pastoral plan for anyone in our parish needing a little extra assistance or wishing to receive Holy Communion. I would ask you to please keep our senior citizens and this important initiative in your prayers.

Annual Report

Next week, I will make my first ever Annual Report at all the Mass. Last Tuesday night, the finance committee and I spent 2 hours reviewing all of our financial reports. We are making every effort to present our parish financial situation in a clear and transparent way to the members of the parish. I do not believe that our Annual Report should be only finances. In my brief presentation, I will also present the demographics of our parish, parishioner involvement, maintenance concerns, and needed capital improvements on our buildings. I hope to do all of this in 10 minutes. I will be available with some members of the Parish Finance Committee to answer any questions you might have regarding our financial standing and the parish in general.
