Multilingual
Sometimes I think our parish speaks two languages. Some people speak bulletin and other people speak email, and the people who speak bulletin are not interested in email and the people who speak email won’t read the bulletin. To help us communicate more effectively with the WHOLE parish, we will continue to publish the bulletin every Sunday. I am sure you will agree that Patty LaVette does a great job on the bulletin, and let me tell you, it is not a small task. Starting at the end of this month, we will be experimenting with a Monthly email called the “Epistle,” just like the old newsletter that used to be published in the parish. Right now there are 1705 emails on our list and we are always looking for more. So holy ones, now you can read the Bulletin for weekly updates and check your inbox for a juicy monthly newsletter…
Online Giving
All right, you 20, 30 and 40 somethings... Some of you have told us you don’t have checkbooks anymore and you regularly buy things on line. Beginning next week we will be starting online giving. For more information and some instructional videos, you can go to our website (stpaulkensington.org) and click on the Online Giving Logo (the green leaf). And for those of you who don’t know what online giving is... don’t worry, we guarantee those envelopes are going to keep coming your way.
Goofy, Funny, Good to be with....
I’m not talking about the friars, although they are also good to be with, but I’m talking about your (our) kids in college. Our college dinner was a wonderful success. 41 kids came - that’s double the first dinner we had over the summer. Thanks to great cooks and a very generous donation, the food was as good as you could get. But most of all I enjoyed sitting on the floor with all of them as we peered into the Manger Scene in our darkened church. I promise that we will continue events like this and hopefully expand them. Our kids are our kids and they are worth every sacrifice.
What’s next…
Our Family Life Committee is meeting again this week. The previous meeting was very well attended. Here are some of the things the committee discussed: The committee spoke about a possible weekly play date for the little ones of our community; They also are considering a parents’ night out sometime soon. We’ll keep you posted on these exciting ideas... If you are interested in participating in our Family Life Committee or have ideas you would like them to consider, please don’t hesitate. Shoot Amy Kurnik an email at [email protected].
Letters from our Confirmation Candidates
Every year the Confirmation Candidates write me a letter requesting the Sacrament of Confirmation. Last year, when I read them, I was very touched. This year I hope to share parts of the letters (without any identifying information) with the parish at large. I am sure you will be as impressed as I am. (see Our Youth Speaks, in the bulletin this week)
Promoting a culture of life
Some of our parishioners have come to me and expressed an interest in beginning a pro-life ministry here at St. Paul Church... I’m all for it. Our Catholic Church has always been at the vanguard when it comes to protecting and promoting the right to life of every single human being. If you are interested, we’ll pass on any information we have either in the bulletin or the Epistle.
