We Made It !!
Well you guys came through and we made our goal for the End of the Year Campaign. Please see the flyer in the bulletin for the details. In the next couple of months we will review all of our preliminary bids and get started on these important projects.
Helping Hands Update
I assure you we have not forgotten the Helping Hands Initiative. A few weeks ago we sent out over 650 letters to our senior citizens. We received around 30 responses and half of them thanked us for thinking of them, but assured us that they were fine. The other 15 expressed some needs. Now those involved in the ministry will gather to see how many of those needs we can address. I am so grateful to Kristina Guzzardi, who has agreed to head up this ministry. She will be contacting those who volunteered to set up a meeting and get started. Kristina’s phone number is (860) 829-0173 and her email address is [email protected] . If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Kristina and let her know. I am sure that you will agree that everyone needs a helping hand now and then.
Catholic School Week is on the Horizon
Every year Catholic Schools and parishes around the country celebrate “Catholic Schools Week.” This year we hope to involve the parish a little more by encouraging you to come on over to our school and check out the Book Fair in our media center. One of the greatest gifts you can give a child is not an Ipad or Ipod Touch, but rather a good old fashion book. Reading books together is a great way for young families to spend time. Our School Librarian has graciously agreed to open the Book Fair after every Mass, except for the 7:30 AM Mass next weekend. Please consider going over and buying a book for one of your “little ones.” Going over to the Book Fair will also give you a chance to walk around our beautiful little school and see that we here at St. Paul Church have so much to be proud of.
So Blest Indeed
Last Monday, when I walked into the Church Hall, I was amazed to see several new and returning families registering as members of our parish. There were over 20 people who signed up, though some of them were a little camera shy. Please look at the photos published in the bulletin and if you notice any of our new or returning members in Church please make an effort to welcome them.
The March for Life
A special Thank you to the members of our Pro-Life Ministry for trying to organize a parish presence at the Hartford March for Life. Please see the announcement in the bulletin for more information. Now more than ever we must not be afraid to defend and proclaim the dignity of each and every human life.
Our Youth
The Middle School Youth group meeting went well. We were surprised at the turnout. Many of the kids seemed to enjoy themselves and said that they would return next week. I heard one Mom say to her daughter “Wait, you liked it, you really liked it? Wow!”
Even with Mid-terms at many of our local High Schools, we also had a good turnout at our High School Youth Group. Next week they are meeting on Sunday Night to make sandwiches for the poor.
We could use some help from the parents of those who are attending. We like to have snacks and drinks at all of our youth group meetings. Please consider sending a little something to be shared with your kids when they come. If you have any questions, please call Sal at the Parish Center or email him at [email protected]
Sal, Chris, some of our college kids and I went to Dinner last Sunday. It was so good to be with them and enjoy their company. After the dinner we all went to the Friary, took down the Christmas tree together and shared some fellowship. Being with those Young Adults sure brought back fond memories for me.
