KGS Progress Report
As I noted in the bulletin last week, there will be a KGS progress report meeting for St. Paul Parishioners tonight (Sunday Night) at 7:00 PM in the Church Hall. The KGS Committee members have been working hard on our parish vision for the KGS property and they are looking forward to hearing what you think. Hope to see you there.
Back in 1958
When our school was built back in 1958, Msgr. Greylish (not known to be a spendthrift) brought good blinds for the classrooms. I assure you they served their purpose well for 56 years. We sure got our money’s worth. Last week our maintenance crew began to take them down in preparation for our new school windows. At the last School Auction, the school families donated a very substantial amount for new blinds. All of the blinds in the school will be replaced at no cost to the parish. The total for the window/blind project will be around $150,000 at NO cost to the parish. The entire expense has been paid for by grants and donations.
Other Parish / School Project updates
¨ All of the classrooms in the school, which are used every day for School and Religious Education, will be painted this year by three candidates for Eagle Scout. All of the paint and supplies have been donated by the local Sherwin-Williams representative. The whole project will be completed by volunteers at NO cost to the school or parish.
¨ The entire first floor of the school has been abated, except for the boiler room.
¨ The Pre-K classrooms have been expanded to accommodate our increased Pre-K enrollment.
¨ The floors in all of the abated classrooms will be replaced beginning this week.
¨ They will begin installing the new windows in the school on or around July 20th.
¨ The new security alarm for the Parish Center will be installed in late August.
¨ The door replacement in the Parish Center, after the attempted break in last year, will begin in August.
¨ The new KGS parking lot will be striped in the near future to help people figure out where to park.
¨ In August, another Eagle Scout hopes to finish the bricking between the sidewalk and street all the way up to Grove Hill. Once again, this project is completely donated at NO expense to the Parish.
Youth Activities Coming Up…
Attention College Students: Don’t forget that we are, once again, having a goodbye dinner for our young adults who are going back to college. The dinner will be on August 1st at 6PM in the Church Hall. Please make sure to pass the word on to our young adults. These events are good for the parish, good for those who work on them, and great for our young people.
The Altar Server Picnic will be held on July 30th at Timberlin Park. Don’t forget to let us know that you are coming so that we can prepare for enough food. There will be games, prizes and fun for everyone.
Our Youth Group is having a trip to the Brownstone Quarries for a day of fun and adventure. If I pass the weight limit, I plan to try one of those zip lines myself. I’ll be sure to go to confession before I do. I’m happy our program is going so well and that our kids enjoy being together so much.
Our Altar Server Masters of Ceremony will be also going on a trip in the near future. Please keep your eyes open for the details or call Sal for more information. I am sure you will agree that the leaders of our 70 + Altar Servers deserve a treat on us.
