Last week, Saint Paul School lost an individual who was an important part of its history, with the passing of
Mrs. Grace E. Johnson. A long-time parishioner of St. Paul Church, Grace also worked and volunteered at
Saint Paul School for many years, serving as school secretary in the 1970’s. Prior to coming to Saint Paul
School, Mrs. Johnson worked in Washington D.C. and for the Berlin Board of Education.
After Grace Johnson retired from her position as secretary, she continued to assist with the planning of events
and special anniversaries for the school. One of Mrs. Johnson’s greatest contributions to Saint Paul School
was her role as “unofficial” historian. Grace compiled all sorts of information on the history of the school which
she organized and assembled into scrapbooks and notebooks that are treasured by us today.
It is the loyal employees and wonderful volunteers that have made and continue to make Saint Paul School a
very special place for our children. Grace Johnson will always be remembered in our prayers.
She would have been 99 years old this October. Robert Biancamano
