If your answer is “yes”, then perhaps God is inviting you to be a lay minister. The lay minister is formed through classes in theology, spirituality, and pastoral skills over a two-year period. Some areas of ministry studied are: adult education, baptismal preparation, bereavement, liturgy, health care, stewardship, RCIA, youth/young adult and social justice to name a few.
Other areas for which you and your parish see a need can be designed. Interested persons should speak to their pastor about the possibility of being sponsored by the parish and then contact Mary Marsan, Coordinator for Lay Ministry, Mary can be reached at the Office of Religious Education, 860-243-9465, or Email, [email protected]. A new lay ministry class begins in September 2013 and applications may be found at www.orehartford.org .
