On Sunday, June 11th, the Culture of Life Ministry teamed up with a few recent graduates of St Paul School in presenting a nostalgic and sentimental musical journey to the residents at Ledgecrest Convalescent Facility here in town. The activity was an important part of our ministry’s mission – respecting the value of our elders. The 1-hour program was a musical and video kaleidoscope of songs from the 1930’s, 1940’s, and 1950’s. As Doris Day, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Gene Autry and many others sang some of their biggest hits, some residents sang aloud, some mouthed the words, while others closed their eyes and took in the wonderful musical memories. The ministry members and grads spent their time singing with the residents, holding their hands, or simply acknowledging their knowing smiles when a special song connected with them. All in all, a wonderful time. Our ministry plans to do more of these types of programs over the coming months – not only at Ledgecrest, but at other care facilities in town, like Worthington Manor.
