St Paul Church - New Music

Lenten Gathering RIte
Lent 2012- As the same as last year, we begin our Sunday Masses with
Tony Alonso's "Gather Us In Mercy Lord." and the "Kyrie". There are worship aids provided in the pews,
but you may better become familiar with it on our website.
Click here to read about it and listen to how it works.
Welcome to our New Music Page. From time to time, when possible, as new music is introduced, there will be the ability to hear and view new music that is being introduced to our parish.
By clicking on an icon or a link, there will be an audio stream of the music.
If available, clicking on or another link, you will see a printed version of the music.
Hopefully, this will ease the process of learning new music and songs.
First on the agenda will be the new Mass settings. While the new revised version of the Roman Missal doesn't begin until November 27, the first Sunday of Advent, we have permission from the Archdiocese of Hartford to begin introducing pieces of music in the liturgy that contain the new text changes. While this does present an opportunity for change and fresh new music, it is best to ease the transition by sticking with what is familiar, musically, to minimize what we have to "learn". So the first settings we will learn will be the Heritage Mass by Owen Alstott, and then the 'universal' Mass of Creation by Marty Haugen.
Starting the weekend of October 9, including the vigil Mass, we will begin with the Gloria, and gradually introduce the other pieces each week.
By the time Advent starts, we should all be familiar with the Gloria, which is a good thing; Once Advent begins, the Gloria will only be sung once on December 8th, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, and doesn't appear again until Christmas.
It is my hope that having these webpages will help us to better participate in the prayers and liturgy by joining our voices together as a parish community.
