A Picture is worth a 1000 words
Well so much was going on this week that I thought we would simply put a picture page in the bulletin to let you get a glimpse of what happens here at St. Paul during the week. A special thanks to Patty LaVette, our Communications Director for putting it together and for the great work she does on our bulletin and website.
Thanks and keep them coming
I love this time of year. Day after day I find bags of fresh vegetables, especially tomatoes, at our back door. The friars are sure lucky that so many of our parishioners have gardens and a willingness to share the fruits of their labors. We love fresh vegetables. The friars thank you and our doctors thank you for helping us eat well.
The College Dinner was a great success
The Ladies Guild was not able to assist us this year so we had it catered. The food was great and the kids were fun to be with. As I said at Mass, we ordered food for 40 and only 20 kids and 3 staff members showed up. Yet there wasn’t much food left. Go figure! Needless to say, they had great appetites. During the evening our “veteran” college students shared some stories and gave some good advice to those just beginning this great adventure. As always my favorite part was when we finished the evening with a prayer. I gave Patty a picture of those who attended. (See next page) A special thank you to the parish for making events like this possible with your contributions to our work.
Please Please Please
If you are sick, going to the hospital or going to have surgery, let us know. The priests here at St. Paul are all “heavy on the oil.” In other words, we are very happy to celebrate the sacrament of the sick with you. Just approach us before or after Mass or call the office to see if any of us are around and to anoint you. IF YOU ARE GOING TO New Britain General (oops! the Hospital of Central Connecticut), please insist that you be listed as a member of St. Paul Church. Sometimes those who register new patients don’t ask. If you are listed as a member of our church, one of the friars will visit you on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Sometimes people are hurt because they think we don’t visit the hospital. I assure you we do, but we can’t visit you if we don’t know you are there. (PLEASE remember to do this!!!)
Yes I like them or No I don’t like them…
It’s time to renew the missalette subscription for next year. This year we purchased one missalette for the whole year. That saved a lot of trees and effort because we didn’t have to switch/replace the expired missalettes 4 times a year. Some people like them and some people don’t. Before we place the final order for next year, please feel free to let us know what you think. Obviously, we can’t please everyone, but at least we are asking. You can drop a note in the offertory, in the parish center mail slot, email us at [email protected] or you can stand on Alling Street and yell at my window, “I like the missalettes” or “I don’t like them” (just kidding). Thanks.
