Good Bye Christmas
I’m always a little sad when the Christmas decorations come down. This year so many people remarked how beautiful the church was during Christmas. It was so moving when all of our college students sat on the floor around the manger and prayed. I want to say thank you one more time to Fr. Raymond and everyone who helped put up and take down our Christmas decorations. I am sure that many in the parish share my gratitude for your hard work.
Say a little prayer
This weekend our 10th graders are making their confirmation retreat. When I was confirmed life was so much easier. Our kids have so much more to contend with. If you get a chance, I am asking all of our parishioners to say a little extra prayer for those seeking confirmation. I am a big believer in prayer. If I wasn’t, I sure made a poor choice of my profession. Please pray for our kids.
Our Parish Nurses
Our new parish nurse group has been meeting and planning blood pressure clinics and info sessions for the near future. I hope that the parish will take advantage of these programs. I told the nurses they can only take my blood pressure if the furnace and our PA system are working properly. Thank you to our nurses who are so willing to share their gifts with our parish at large.
Heartwarming
You all know that we have a great summer camp every year. It is staffed by our older kids from the parish, and the little ones love it.
Mrs. Scalora and the counselors do a great job. Last week, one of our camp counselors came back to see a couple of the campers she knew from the summer. It was so heartwarming to see that little girl, who recently lost her Mom, throw herself into the arms of her camp counselor, Kelly. There is nothing fake about little ones. It was obvious to me that they had a very special relationship. Thank you to all who make our summer camp possible. Remember Grandparents, if your grand kids live out of town and you are nervous about keeping up with them for a whole day, why not invite them up, put them in our summer camp and enjoy their company in the evening? I am sure they would enjoy the camp and love to be with you. For more information call the school office 860-828-4343.
The Pipes are broken
Recently we discovered that the drain tiles which carry the rain water away from the 100 year old foundation of the old wing are broken. Whenever it rains and they’re needed, the basement floods. That’s why we have those ugly plastic hoses running from the building on the Peck street side. While we don’t have the resources to fix that problem, rest assure you will see it on the project list in the Annual Report.
Please be careful
It has become apparent to us that the bricks we place between the sidewalk and the curb freeze before the sidewalks. Last Saturday, some of the fathers of our first reconciliation children and I spent a lot of time salting them down. When you get out of your cars on the church side of Alling St. please be extra careful.
