Saying Goodbye
Please take the time to say goodbye to Fr. Peter after all the Masses this weekend. As you know there will be refreshments in the Church Hall. It is important that we, as a parish, let him know how much we appreciated his work and encourage him in his new adventure as a High School Teacher in Baltimore.
Summer, Summer, Hurrah It’s Summer
The other day as I was walking over to school, I heard some of our summer camp kids shouting, “Summer, Summer, Hurray it’s Summer.” Yes, our St. Paul Summer Camp is up and running. You know how I feel about this important parish project. The little ones love it and the big ones who watch them love it. There are even some High School Students working as volunteer counselors this year.
Attention Grandparents
You know, sometimes you want to have your Grandchildren with you, but you are not sure that you can keep up with them all day. Last year several Grandparents had their grand children come for a visit and sent them to our St. Paul Summer Camp during the day. One Grandma had her Grandchildren from two separate families visit. She was so happy that she was able to have her grandchildren get to know their cousins. She also was happy that they usually had nice quiet nights, because the kids came home exhausted from running around all day at camp. Gee, you grandmothers are smart.
Let us remember
Freedom is not free… As we celebrate this Fourth of July weekend, let’s remember to pause for a moment and say a prayer for our young men and women who are serving in our Armed Forces. Our Freedom was hard earned and is difficult to protect. So many people in the world do not share the freedom or the prosperity that we do. We have so much to be grateful for, so much indeed.
Who’s in the Hospital
I find myself constantly repeating this, and I guess I will have to continue to do so. If you or your loved one is in the Hospital, especially New Britain General (aka The Hospital of Central Connecticut), it is very, very, very important that when you are admitted, you tell them that you are a member of St. Paul Church. We want to visit you when you are sick. We want to give you communion and anoint you when you are in the hospital. But we can’t do so if we don’t know you are there. Many times we walk right by our parishioners rooms and miss them because they did not identify themselves as St. Paul Parishioners. Several times people have seen us in the hallway but when we didn’t stop to see them or their loved one they were hurt. I assure you the only reason we didn’t stop was because we didn’t know that you were there.
