May God Bless all of our Fathers, Living and Deceased.
IMPORTANT
As many of you know the Third Edition of the Roman Missal (The Roman Missal contains the prayers and responses for Mass) is coming out the First Sunday of Advent. When it does, many of the responses we say at Mass will change. For example, when the Priest says “The Lord be with you,” after the First Sunday of Advent the people will respond, “and with your Spirit.” In the coming weeks we will have more information on these important changes and the reasons that the English speaking Church is making them. I just want to begin to make you aware that some of the responses and prayers at Mass will be changing in the Fall.
The Elevator is fixed, the Elevator is fixed, Alleluia, the Elevator is fixed.
You never know how important something is until it stops working. Enough said......
Hurray for Summer
The school year is rushing to an end. You can feel the excitement in the air when you walk through our little school. We had that memorable graduation last week, the big kids had their day at Camp Sloper and our little Pre-K children ran through a sprinkler and had a picnic with their families. By the time you read this school will be out at St. Paul and the great summer adventure will have begun. May God keep the children of our school and all the children of our Parish safe, happy and holy over the summer vacation.
Please take the time to read the speeches given by Anthony and Kaitlin (Home Page on our web)
This week there was is a full page insert in the bulletin with the speeches given by both the Salutatorian and Valedictorian of our parish school. Their talks were really well done and I want the whole parish to be as proud of them as I am. The insights and memories they shared reaffirmed my belief in Catholic education. They are both GREAT speeches from GREAT kids. I hope you read them.
Religious Education Registration
We are going to try and do on-line registration for our Religious Education Program this year. This effort is spearheaded by Lisa Soderburg, the very able administrative assistant for our Religious Education Office. If it works, and we hope it does, the on-line registration will really save our staff a lot of time and effort processing the registrations. There are 500 families who participate in our Religious Education Program. We hope the on-line registration will also be a lot more convenient for everyone. In the very near future we hope to add the ability to pay with Pay Pal and save you the effort of writing a check and mailing it in. There is an insert in the bulletin explaining the registration process.
Thanks for the Compliments
Several people have remarked how beautiful our property is looking as of late. Bill, Jack, and Alex have been working really hard to make it look great. If you see them, please let them know you appreciate their hard work. I try to let them know how appreciated they are. Building people up and accenting the positive are good ways to live. In this same vain, my mother always says, “You get more bees with honey than you get with vinegar.” It is important for all of us to remember that. Sometimes, as soon as I see someone coming or a name in my inbox, I know that there is some complaint or something wrong. We don't want to run from problems or ignore them, but I find myself taking people's concerns more seriously when they are a source of both positive and negative sentiments.
