Determined to be holy
I’m sitting in the Charlotte N.C. airport on my way to our meeting in Cincinnati. As I sit here, I’m watching people “walk” by. This airport is a pretty hectic place filled with an almost frenetic energy. There are so many people here and everyone seems like they have the same mission. They want to get where they are going ASAP with as few detours as possible. I wish that we could be as determined to be holy as the lady I am watching run to concourse C from Concourse E. People here in Charlotte seem willing to overcome any obstacle to get to their plane. All of us should be just as determined to be the men and women that God wants, rather needs us to be.
The Playground
We had a little problem on our playground last week. Around 50 middle school kids from the area converged on our St. Paul Playground and parking lot to hang out. The little kids in our camp were frightened by the invasion and told me so. I am sure that no one meant to frighten them. To make sure that the kids in our summer camp get first dibs on the playground and parking lot, I am going to ask that the playground and parking lot be reserved for the Camp everyday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. No one should be on our playground after 9:30 PM. The neighbors and the friars right next to the play-ground need to get their rest. I also want to ask everyone who uses our facilities to take care of them. We are going to continue to monitor the situation and I promise to keep your posted.
Weddings, Weddings, Weddings
I am away once more this weekend for another wedding of two Catholic University Graduates. That should do it for Catholic University weddings this year. I am grateful for the chance to share these important moments with dear friends. I will be back Monday night.
Staff Meetings
I’m not sure if you know, but every Monday our Staff gathers to look over the next couple of weeks and make sure that we have all of our bases covered. They also work up a publicity plan so that we don’t forget to let you know about upcoming events. If you have an announcement for the bulletin, you can go to our Parish web site and fill in the form, or you can call Patty LaVette, our Director of Parish Communications and Membership at 860-828-0331, ext. 133. She is responsible for both the bulletin and our website.
I promise to say hello
It doesn't seem possible, but the friars have been at St. Paul's for over 20 years. Actually, I think we are coming up on 25 years. This week many of the friars who served at St. Paul's in the past, such as Fr. Herman, Fr. Marion (I’m not sure if he is coming), Fr. Richard, Fr. Michael Englert, Friar Bob Cook, Fr. Carl, Fr. Martin, Fr. Tom, Fr. Eugene and Fr. Germain will be coming to our Chapter. I promise to give them your warm regards when I see them.
I am also going to tell them that they are remembered by name every morning by the parishioners who pray the Rosary after the 7:00 AM Mass. St. Paul’s is the exception in this regard. I know of no other place where all of the friars who ministered at St. Paul are prayed for by name each and every morning. Thanks for the prayers.
Happy 4thof July
Oops, they are calling our flight, so that’s it for this week. God bless you all and have a great 4thof July with your families and friends.
