This Week
Our Parish Office will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday , to give our office staff time to prepare for Thanksgiving with their families.
Next Week we will begin with the New Translation of the Mass
There will be cards with the new responses in each pew. For a while all of us will just have to depend on the cards to get the responses right. I assure you I already know that I will have to keep my nose in the book to make sure I get it right. As some of you saw last week at the 12:00 PM Mass, I get even the old responses wrong. For the last several months we have been publishing articles each week in the bulletin explaining reasons for all of the changes. These articles have also tried to explain theological significance for each new response. If you want to review them all of those articles are available on our website.
Congratulations Fr. Raymond and Fr. Peter.
Please be sure to stop down in the Church Hall after each of the Masses this week to wish Frs. Peter and Raymond well. As you all know ,Fr. Peter was ordained a Deacon last week in Buffalo NY. Fr. Raymond is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of his Priesthood Ordination this year. We are most grateful for both of these fine men. Let’s be sure to pray for Fr. Peter who is just beginning his ministerial service, and Fr. Raymond who already has 50 years under his belt.
St. Paul Church -Tons and Tons of food and super big hearts!
Our plea for more food for the Thanksgiving Food Drive sure exceeded our expectations. Barbara Killius told me that it was the largest collection we’ve ever had. Thank you so much! I was really worried that we wouldn’t have enough, and your generous hearts came through as always. The price of food has risen so much this last year, making your gift even more generous.
Calling all Young Families…
For a while I have been in dialogue with a group of parishioners about beginning a group for young families. The purpose of the Family Life Committee will be to provide programming, networking and support for the many many incredible young families who attend our Church. We have a huge Religious Education Program and a GREAT school for our kids, and some day we will have an active youth ministry. We have a senior citizen outreach program, but I have always been worried that we don’t have anything for our young families. If you have a young family and would like to participate, please come to an organizational and interest meeting on November 29th, at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center. Amy Kurnik will be chairing the committee. If you are interested in getting involved or would like more information, please email her at akurnik@comcast.net.
Best wishes for a beautiful and blessed Thanksgiving for you and your families. We have so much to be grateful for. God Bless you and keep you all.
