A Special Thank You
As many of you know, we blessed the new church doors after the 9:00 am Mass last Sunday. Everyone is so happy with them and they really change the appearance of the front of the Church. I had to wait until I had all of my ducks in line before I listed the names of the donors and the names of those in whose memory these beautiful gifts were made. Please extend with me a heartfelt thank you to Joan Siering, who contributed the Bell Tower Door in memory of her Aunts, Marie Jeanne Cyr and Marie Anne Black, .and David & Mary Helen Loiselle, who contributed the center doors and friary side doors in memory of David’s parents, David N. and Lorraine D. Loiselle.
We would never have been able to replace our church doors without the help of these two families. Thank you so much.
It’s in the mail
As many of you know, our parish End of the Year Appeal is in the mail and if you haven’t received it, you will be receiving it shortly. This year the big project is our Gym roof. It’s leaking in several places now and the leaks create a hazard every time it rains. As I noted in the appeal letter, when the ceiling tiles get wet, they often fall to gym floor and that could be dangerous. After consultation with the Staff, the Parish Council and the Building Committee, it was decided that this is our most immediate need this year and we can’t put it off anymore.
This is important so read it carefully…
This year we will be printing the names of those who contribute to the appeal in our bulletin. No amount will be listed, just the names of the donors. If you do not wish your name to appear, simply check that option off on the response card and we will write anonymous instead.
The Pastoral Council
Our Pastoral Council met last week. We discussed the End of the Year Appeal, and the time and talent survey we distributed in October. We are always looking for ways to better serve the needs of our Parish Community and get more people involved.
There was also a brief review of the Parish Registration Nights which have been a wonderful success. As you can see from the pictures we publish in the bulletin every month, there are a number of families who want to join St. Paul. That’s a tribute to you and the special place our parishioners have created here.
Family Life Committee
I am so excited! This week we had our first meeting of the Family Life Committee. This group will be made up of families with children in 8th Grade and below. We hope to provide lots of opportunities for fellowship and faith building during the year. St. Paul Church is rich in so very many ways. Perhaps one of our biggest blessings is the number of young families who actively participate in the life of the parish. Ask your friends how many young families attend their parish and you might be surprised at how blest we really are. I promise to keep you up to date on how things develop with this new parish initiative. Save the date for the committee’s kick off event. On Monday, December 19th, from 7:00-9:00 pm, there will be a gift wrapping night in St. Paul Church Hall. More information will follow.
What a great night
Last Monday evening, Dr. Brandon Nappi from Holy Family Passionate Retreat Center spoke in our church. His message was lively, upbeat and very well received. The whole evening was the work of David Osowiski and I want to thank him for a very successful evening and all that he has done for our parish.
The Angel Tree
I was amazed how quickly the angels flew off the Angel tree. My Mom even took a couple. Thanks be to God that so many people understand the need to reach out to those in need, especially during the Holiday Season. Thank you so much and let’s be sure to get those gifts back on time ( by next Sunday, December 11th) so that they can be properly distributed as planned.
The Christmas Concert
Our First Christmas Concert is just around the corner. Jeff Batter our “new” Director of Liturgy and Music has worked really hard at trying to bring this whole thing together. We hope to make the Christmas Concert an annual event here at St. Paul’s. So we’ll see you next Sunday, December 11th, at 5:00 PM. The Concert will be followed by refreshments, provided by our Ladies Guild.
