Spring is sprung
I hate to say it and possibly be responsible for a huge snow storm next week, but we really got off lightly this winter. I don’t think we could have had a more gentle winter season. Now that spring seems just around the corner, it is so easy to see and be grateful for the gift of new life, new abundant life that both spring and our faith can give us.
Congratulations Confirmation students
This year we had an outstanding group of confirmation students. They fulfilled all of their requirements, worked hard to complete their service hours and were just great goofy kids. I had a chance to speak with them before they prayed the stations of the cross last week and I expressed my hope that they would be a big help to our youth minister next year. Many of them came up to me later and told me that they would be happy to be involved. By the way while it may be true that some kids get confirmed and never come back to Mass, I want you to know that a lot of our young people stay involved in our parish after confirmation. A special heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the religious formation of the fine young men and women of our Confirmation Class. Please remember in your prayers the repose of the soul of Mr. Mark Errico and the consolation of his family. Mark was a teacher in our religious education program for many years.
Congratulations! We are So Proud of You and thanks …..
Our School’s Girls Varsity Basketball team came in second in the Archdiocese of Hartford State Tournament last week.. We were all so excited and anxious for our team at the championship game. I want to thank all of the fans and parishioners who attended the game. We were all so very proud of our girls. They played hard and did not give up from the very first moment of the game until the final buzzer. I want to thank Mr. Moore our Athletic Director for all of his sacrifices this year. Mr. Moore spends a lot of “overtime” in our gym. I also want to thank Coach Mark Mercier and Coach Tyler Lentini for all of their sacrifices for the team this year. Not only were they great basketball coaches they also taught our young people a lot of important lessons about life. Our season was incredible. Our team’s final record was 27-2 with at least 23 consecutive wins... WOW... Ladies, thank you for Representing St. Paul School and St. Paul Church so well.
Parish Wide Lenten Confessions
Confessions will be celebrated a week from tomorrow, Monday, April 2nd from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM or whenever we finish. Who will be the first person in your family to suggest that you all go to confession and prepare for the great celebration of Easter? The person who steps up first is really giving their loved ones a special gift. Forgiveness is always ours for the asking. Think about it.
“Dear Fr. Robert,
I do not understand why you print the names of Mercy and Xavier students who receive honors in the bulletin, but you don’t print the names of your own students in our school who obtain honors and high honors.”
Unsigned, slipped through the slot of the parish center…
Dear whoever you are…... I’m sorry about that, and I promise when we get the names of our St. Paul School honor students we will certainly print them in the bulletin. By the way, next time, don’t be afraid to sign your name, and thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Don’t forget....
The School Auction (our main school fundraiser) is coming up next week on Saturday, March 31st. There are still a few tickets available. This is a great way to support our beautiful school and have a great night out at the same time. If you have never attended, why not give it a shot. You can purchase tickets at either the Parish or School Office. If you are interested, act quickly because the tickets are going fast.
