Whew...
There is so much going on I don’t know where to start or what to say. The development across the street has taken up a lot of my time this week. We’ve (the parking committee and I) met to discuss the scope of the project and how it would affect our neighborhood. We met with Attorney Kern and I have spoken several times with the Archdiocesan attorney. I have also met with several neighbors and they have shared their feelings with me. The Pastoral Council has been consulted and let me know how they think the parish should react to the project. I promise to share something with you on Saturday or Sunday, but because of all of the meetings between then and now (Wednesday), I’m not exactly sure what I’ll be sharing. Suffice it to say, you’ll be hearing from me.
For our families...
The Family Life Committee met this week and formulated a nine month schedule of events. You all know how excited I am about their good work. I was thrilled when I wandered into the play-date last Monday and saw it filled with kids. I promise to keep you posted on their upcoming events. I’m hearing rumors of a summer outdoor movie for our families. That sounds great.
First Communion
Almost 120 children will make their First Holy Communion this year. This Saturday we had two masses and next Saturday we will be celebrating one more. The children are so excited about taking this next step in their lives. They have such a wonderful faith. If the parents approve, I will try to post pictures on the website.
The Youth Minister Interviews have begun
Last week we interviewed two fine young people for our youth minister position and we will be interviewing two more Sunday Night. You may be sick of me talking about this, but I really feel that an effective youth ministry is the next step for our parish. Last week we celebrated the one year anniversary of Ryan Lee’s tragic death while he was away at college. Our Church was filled with his family and friends. Their presence confirmed in my heart the need to move forward and try and provide the young people in our parish with a viable life-giving youth ministry.
Overflowing
I just looked and there are 407 emails in my inbox. If you have not received a response from me, I apologize. Your message may just be buried in the avalanche. If you think I might have forgotten you, please call the parish office and speak with Flora. She will let me know what is going on.
God Bless,
Fr. Robert
