Thank You Thank You Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked on the Parish Tag Sale, especially Pat and Ray Kalentkowski. It seems great minds think alike because half the neighborhood had tag sales this weekend. I have to admit that our crowd was a little sparse, but those who came were very grateful for the hard work which went into getting the tag sale organized. When we plan for next year, we will hope to look for an earlier date to avoid all of the neighborhood competition. Thanks, again, to everyone who made our tag sale a reality.
Altar Servers
As you can see from the picture above, last week we had a great turnout for our Altar Server Training / Retraining. We have a very big number of new Altar Servers and the New Masters of Ceremony (white surplice and black cassock) did all of the training.
When they get started, rest assured that things are going to get a little bumpy for awhile, but they will get the hang of it.
We found you…
A week or so ago our Religious Education staff studied our parish records and found 545 children from 380 families who do not attend Catholic School and are not registered in our Religious Education program. There can be lots of reasons for this. Sometimes people move into town but just never have a chance to register their children. Sometimes the registration date just slips by. Whatever the case, we want you to know that the door is still open and will always be open for you to sign up your children for Religious Education.
If you need more information please call the ReligiousEd Office at (860)828-1934. I promise that our religious education staff will be happy to answer any questions you have and no one is going to yell at you. If you simply want to register your children online, please go to our Parish Homepage, click on Ministries and then click on Religious Education. We can’t wait to meet you and your children.
St. Paul Summer Camp
Last year was the first year for St. Paul Summer Camp and everyone was very pleased with how things went. As the word spread throughout the summer, the attendance grew and grew. It’s that time again to get your kids and grandchildren registered for a week or two of summer camp.
If you want more information please visit our school website, ourschool.stpaulkensington.org or call the school office at 860-828-4343.
Zoning and Planning
I’m writing this on Monday and who knows what will happen this week at the Planning and Zoning Commission Meetings. I just want to say that we have done what we have done and said what we’ve said about the KGS development because the Parish Council, the Parking Committee and a significant number of parishioners have encouraged us to do so. I know that there are a number of people in Town who are not happy with St. Paul Church. There are also a number of parishioners who were upset because they were asked where they went to Church in a public forum. We wish everyone well and we mean no harm, but we just could not keep quiet when faced with a development of this density and scope was planned across the street from our Church and our School.
St. Paul Planting and Clean-Up Day…
Just a note to thank everyone who worked on the parish planting and clean up day. A parish that plants together, prays together, and plays together stays together... Thanks Again.
FYI...
Just to let you know, at long last, we have hired someone to fill our new Youth Minister Position. We will be thrilled to introduce you to him when he arrives. I have to say that the vote of the search committee was unanimous. Our youth minister will start after July 4th.
