Our School
Our Pastoral Council met on June 19, 2012. At this meeting I updated them on the following topics. Our school Principal search continues with four great candidates with both Public School and Catholic School backgrounds. Our school enrollment is holding steady and may even increase once again this year. The Archdiocese is mandating a “state of the school” meeting next year and we discussed some items which may be presented at this meeting, which we hope to have in September.
Good Bye Lisa and Thank You
Lisa Soderburg, the administrative assistant to our Director of Religious Education, is moving on. We wish her well as she returns to the corporate world. Lisa has been a wonderful addition to our staff and has been instrumental in increasing our use of technology. We will be looking to fill this part-time position as soon as possible. Please see the article in the bulletin for more information.
Our Parish Ministries
The Pastoral Council was very excited about the increases we are seeing in our parish involvement. There is a new Pro-life Group meeting. Our Family Life Committee has been very active. The St. Paul Gardening Group helped plant our gardens and is now helping to maintain them. The Parish Bakers have really been working hard for parish events. This week the leaders of all our parish ministries received rosters of those involved and those who are interested in becoming involved in the life of the Parish.
Parking, Parking, Parking
While a lot of my time has been taken up working on our Principal search we have not forgotten our other projects. We continue to consider all of our options regarding our parking situation, and I promise you that whatever the committee decides, it will be in the best interest of St. Paul Church.
Our Summer Projects include:
Asbestos abatement in school -
We hope to abate both the nurse’s station and the Pre-K classroom this Summer.
School Roof -
We have three bids to replace the Gym roof and will make a final decision in the near future.
Doors on the Parish Center -
After the vandalism or attempted break-in to the Parish Center several weeks ago, we decided to replace the Parish Center doors with something more secure.
Enhanced security-
The School Alarm is in need of an upgrade. There have been several very costly false alarms last year. The Parish Center now has better and more secure access control.
Smart boards for primary grades -
We will be adding additional smart boards in the Primary grades. These boards will be used by both our Religious Education Program and our School. The bulk of these expenses will be covered by school funds.
