Friar Stuff
This week you may have noticed a new guy in a habit walking around our campus. We are very happy to welcome Fr. Tim Lyons to our parish. From what I have been told, Fr. Tim will be here until our Provincial Chapter next year. Please join me in welcoming Fr. Tim to St. Paul. I am sure that all of us will benefit from his presence and the gift of his Priesthood here at St. Paul.
Fr. Raymond continues to get better, slow but sure. He is very comfortable up in our Senior Friars’ Residence in Chicopee, MA, and I’m told that as his healing progresses he will begin a number of weeks of cardiac rehab. We have included Fr. Raymond’s temporary address in the bulletin last week and this week. It would be great if you could drop him a card and assure him of your support and prayers.
Thanks so much - and the parking lot is open
As you noticed, some of our parishioners volunteered their time to clean up the KGS property and repair the asphalt in the parking lot. There is even an asphalt path from the parking lot to the sidewalk. A special thank you to Mr. Dave Alkas and Tom Maier for their hard work. The parking spaces behind the KGS building are much closer to the church and that’s a good thing, especially in this heat. In the near future we hope to add some white lines to help people know where to park. Yep, the Parking lot is open. Why not give it a try?
KGS progress report
As the committee continues to meet, it has become apparent that we need the good counsel of a landscape architect and stonemason (not the kind with the funny hat). If there are any parishioners with these skills who would be willing to help us out, please call
Fr Robert (me) at 860-828-0331 or email me at [email protected]. Thanks a million.
So that we can keep everyone informed, there will be a parish-wide progress report meeting on July 21st at 7:00 PM in the Church Hall. At this time, the KGS committee will share the fruits of its work and listen to any suggestions our parishioners may have.
Parish office will close Fridays at 12 Noon
During the month of July our Parish Office will be closing at 12:00 Noon so that our staff can have a couple of extra hours with their families. Thanks for your understanding and sorry in advance for any inconvenience.
College Dinner - Good Food and Good Company
It’s that time again for our Summer college dinner. This year we are inviting everyone who attends college near and far to come to catch up with each other and share a meal together. Over 40 young people attended last January. Sal will be calling all of you.
Summer Camp is going GREAT
The other day one of our little ones just finished playing on the waterslide when her mom arrived to pick her up. I heard her say, “Sweetheart what’s better, being home with mommy and the baby or being at Summer camp?” The little girl responded, “I like it here better” and the Mom just smiled. There are lots of smiles here at St. Paul’s during the summer - The campers smile, the great camp counselors we have smile, the staff smiles. Here is an excerpt from an email I recently received from a parishioner.
“Dear Fr. Robert,
I just wanted to say thank you for allowing the parish community to have the St. Paul Camp available this summer. We had intended to do a week for my 4 year old daughter Abby in August “just for fun,” but we ended up hitting a daycare snag this week.
Julie Scalora was so flexible with our very last minute schedule and so reassuring that Abby would have a great time. Well, I just picked her up after her first morning there and she hasn’t stopped talking about it. The group of camp counselors seem like such great kids…they were so welcoming this morning, answered all of my “nervous mom” questions, and were really caring and nurturing. I’m now thinking this is the answer to our summer juggling act and I’m so thankful to have it available to us. Kudos to you all !!”
