One day at prayer, I contemplated the image of Divine Mercy. It is a picture of Jesus and the words inscribed on it, "Jesus, I trust in you." I have seen this image a thousand times especially when I am reciting the Chaplet of Mercy. But on that day, I actually zeroed in on where Jesus is standing in the picture. He is standing in front of a door. He wasn't standing in a crowd or in the clouds, but in front of a door with lights coming out from its sides.
I began to ask myself, what was behind that door and why did Jesus make sure, St. Faustina, drew it that way? After further contemplating the image, the words from Matt 7:7 came to mind,
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
Then it came to me. Here was another beautiful gesture from Jesus waiting for us to invite Him into our lives and to trust Him with it. This Lenten season, will you let Him in?
The first Sunday after Easter, the church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday. It's a beautiful devotion and I pray that you will come to love it as much as I do!
